Wow. This review will be hard to write—and shorter than I’d like—because thinking back on this issue, I’m really just speechless. There’s a lot I’d like to say about what happens here but at the same time I’m committed to not releasing spoilers—other than, yeah, something big happens here—and I’m still not sure how to process the latest chapter that writer Robert Kirkman has given us here. — more

FF #1

FF #1

on March 24, 2011

Fantastic Four? First Family? Future Foundation? All of these seem applicable in FF, the highly anticipated new series from Marvel, writer Jonathan Hickman and artist Steve Epting. A lot has been made about the fresh start for this group of heroes in the aftermath of the death of the Human Torch, and there’s certainly a lot about this book that feel fresh: new costumes, a new outlook on their mission and a surprising new member… and no, I’m not talking about Spider-Man. — more

Quick Hits: Reviews of X-Factor #217 and more…

X-Factor #217

on March 18, 2011

X-Factor #217: This seemed to be a bit of a strange issue to me as the plot we picked up from last issue almost seems to take a backseat to other issues here for a good chunk of the issue. It seems Peter David has something he wants to get off of his chest, and here he finds the unlikely mouthpiece of J. Jonah Jameson—who has hired X-Factor Investigations to look into the murder of a close friend—as he confronts a right-wing, anti-Muslim (and mutant) rally. Do I agree with what Peter Davis is trying to get across in this scene? Absolutely. Did the scene help to move the plot along? — more

Exclusive! Nerdy Nothings interviews Clay Mann

Clay Mann - Age of X

on March 17, 2011

The “Age of X” crossover has been turning some heads for a few weeks now, and with good reason. As much as writer Mike Carey has crafted a fun and gripping vision of an alternate universe for the X-Men a lot of the credit goes to artist Clay Mann. His dynamic visual style has been an asset to X-Men: Legacy for some time now and he’s certainly upped his game for this storyline. He graciously took some time out of his busy schedule to chat with Nerdy Nothings about how he got started in the industy, his influences and more. Take a look after the jump! — more

Bleeding Cool say they have a scoop on a July relaunch of Captain America… it appears everyone’s favorite star-spangled superhero’s main title will be launching this summer with a brand new #1. Not quite sure what to make of this as Marvel just renumbered Captain America not too long ago with issue #600, and now we’re going back to a #1 issue? When will enough be enough? Let us know what you think after the jump! — more

The Dark Tower - Battle of Tull

on March 14, 2011

Marvel scored a big coup when they signed the exclusive rights to Stephen King’s epic Dark Tower series. And as a fan of those novels I haven’t been let down with Marvel’s comic adaptations, which have covered new material as well as come fan-favorite stories from the novel series.

Michael Lark is on board with art duties—taking over from the fantastic Luke Ross—with this newest Dark Tower series, titled “The Battle of Tull.” Read about the upcoming arc, as well as take a look at the first cover after the jump! — more
