A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas 3D trailer

I love a good Christmas movie! This is coming from the guy who saw Jingle All The Way in the theater. Yeah, so, I must REALLY like Christmas movies. But hey this actually looks funny, in a “this is so terrible I can’t help but laugh” kind of way. Never saw the Guantanamo one, but loved the original, and this looks pretty much like I expected/hoped. I love the gratuitous use of 3D and you have to root for a movie where Santa gets shotgunned out of the sky, right? — more

Rise of the Planet of the Apes

When it comes to sci-fi or fantasy movies, in order to truly enjoy a movie, you have to let yourself believe what you’re seeing on the screen can happen, no matter how ridiculous or fantastical. It’s called suspension of disbelief and without it, we’d just laugh, scowl or scoff at movies like Star Wars and Alien. Some movies call for more disbelieving than others, like in the case of The original Planet of the Apes franchise. The sparse and sometimes comical costumes and effects demanded we accept their legitimacy in order to fully engage ourselves within the film’s imagined environment. — more

First Photo of Anne Hathaway as Catwoman

A lot of people have been waiting to find out what Anne Hathaway looks like as the iconic villainess Catwoman — wait no more. I am inclined to believe this shot is of her in a motorcycle jump suit rather than the actual costume. It’s hard to tell the context in which this photo was taken, but it is entirely possible that Nolan is going for a more realistic cat burglar look, than an actual catwoman. What are your thoughts? Embiggened after the jump. — more

First Glimpse of Your New Superman

On the heels of the casting of Perry white we have our first look at the new Superman. And guess what, he looks like Superman! I have been pretty vocal about my opinions on this new iteration of Superman and from the tone of this image it looks like they are definitely going, gritty, dark and more Nolan-esque. Its hard to argue against this choice since Nolan has made the most profitable Superhero franchise with his rebooting of Batman. But, something tells me its not going to work as well with our man in red tights. Hit the jump to see the image larger. — more

We Have a New Perry White

Laurence-Fishburn

Laurence Fishburne will don the news cap in the latest version of superman. Laurence has always struck me as a cool cat, not a tempered actor. It must be hard for him to shed his image as Morpheus. I am not 100% jazzed up for this entire movie, but I do like that they’re going unconventional in this casting choice.

Cowboys & Aliens

A year or so ago I heard that Jon Favreau’s next project was named Cowboys & Aliens, my brain summoned up an image of a CGI intense, Pixar-like kids movie in the vein of Mars needs Moms. This was well before any trailers or teaser posters. The title didn’t convey to me at all a high-concept action thriller. When they released the first teaser I was taken aback. OK, so this IS going to be an intense, dramatic and very action-y thrill ride. OK, cool. Sounds great, but I still didn’t think the title fit. It just seemed too damn jokey. — more
