Preview! Action Comics #902

This site’s been a big fan of Action Comics as of late, what with its stellar run from superstars Paul Cornell and Pete Woods focusing on Lex Luthor, longtime enemy to the Man of Steel. You know what they say about all good things, though, and come issue #900 Superman retakes the reigns of his title. That issue also marks Woods’ last hurrah on art chores. Come issue #901, Top Cow veteran Kenneth Rocafort takes the reigns with an arc all about Doomsday, the villain who killed Superman in that long-ago time known as the ’90s. DC’s Source blog released an action-packed cover of Rocafort’s second issue drawn by the man himself earlier today. Check it out in all its something-big-is-about-to-happen glory!

Here’s DC’s solicitation for #901, the first part of the “Reign of Doomsday” arc:

We can’t tell you much about this issue without ruining some of ACTION COMICS #900′s surprises, but suffice it to say, Doomsday’s back – and you’ve never seen him like this before! Doomsday’s first appearance brought about the “Reign of the Supermen,” where four characters – Superboy, Steel, Cyborg Superman, and Eradicator – came onto the scene to try to fill Superman’s shoes. Now, with “Reign of Doomsday,” it looks like Superman might need to fill their shoes!

I will be sad to see Lex’s run come to an end, but hopes are high. With any luck this will turn into a Superman book I (and others) can happily pick up every month.

Here here. The last time I read a monthly in-continuity book starring Superman was over two years ago, when Johns and Frank did Action (pre-New Krypton). Looks like it’s time to try again…

It’s a cool looking cover… I’ve been a big fan of Kenneth Rocafort, just wish he was more prolific!
