My pull list… 07/08/10

Children's Crusade

My pull list for July 8th, 2010

Comics come out a day late this week (actually, some later than others…), but there’s quite a bit to be looking forward to.

On the top of my list this week is Avengers: The Children’s Crusade #1 from writer Alan Heinberg and artist Jimmy Cheung. This series reunites the creative team from the orignal Young Avengers series and looks to wrap up several loose ends in the Marvel Universe including the whereabouts of the Scarlet Witch and M-Day. With a cast made up of the Avengers, the Young Avengers and the X-Men and a stellar artist (Jimmy Cheung’s artwork is always amazing, and it’s great to see him back on interior work after a long stint of cover duty) this will certainly be a series to check out. Here’s Marvel’s solicitation:

The Young Avengers return in an epic, bi-monthly Marvel maxi-series by series creators Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung. When Wiccan’s reality-altering powers begin to rival those of the Scarlet Witch, the young hero sets out on a quest to find her that spans the Marvel Universe and pits Wiccan against both the Avengers and the Young Avengers. But will Wiccan’s desire to solve the mystery of his parentage be his salvation or his undoing? This self-contained Marvel maxi-series reintroduces and redefines the Young Avengers and the Scarlet Witch for the Heroic Age and is essential reading for any Avengers fan.

Of course there’s more to lookout for as well, with X-Men #1, X-Force #28 (the penultimate chapter of “Second Coming”), Batman & Robin #13 features the return of the Joker after last issue’s cliffhanger, Batman Odyssey feature the return of Neal Adams to the Batman world of comics, and Demo wraps up it’s latest series with issue #6.
