Happy Thanksgiving from Nerdy Nothings

Hope everyone has too much pumpkin pie and turkey tomorrow and after all the arguing, punching and hugs, nothing beats a good flick. Below the jump are 3 of my favorite Thanksgiving flicks to keep you busy and free of small-talk during the holiday.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles
One of the greatest comedies ever, period, bar-none, and it takes place during thanksgiving. There are many laughs and enough poignant moments to make it truly memorable. A great flick for when the football games end and the pie is settling down.

Pieces of April
There was a time when Katie Holmes was more than just the wife of Tom cruise. And she made some pretty decent movies during her Dawson’s river kids run, such as, Go, The Ice Storm, Wonder Boys and the under the radar but excellent Thanksgiving flick, Pieces of April.

The Ice Storm
Another, strangely enough, movie with Katie Holmes in it. Although, her role is quite small. This isn’t your typical Thanksgiving heart-warmer, it’s actually a bit of a downer. The remarkable performances by the all-star cast include Kevin Kline, Sigourney Weaver and a young Elijah Wood and Christina Ricci. Ang Lee directed this Thanksgiving tale of suburban woe.
