I’ve been looking forward to this one for a while. Moneyball is a great book, it reads like a novel and is filled with little guys and underdogs, the perfect baseball story for a consummate cubs fan like myself. Moneyball tells the story of Billy beane and the cash-strapped Oakland A’s. Looking to compete without a budget, Beane and his lackeys try to find, “diamonds in the rough” and instead of traditional scouting, they dig into the stat books and use numbers and instinct to guide them. Doesn’t sound like it would make a thrilling movie, but the huge personalities and charisma of Beane should play well on film, not to mention they have a pretty impressive cast.
