Have I got a supergroup for you! Neil Gaiman, Amanda Palmer, Ben Folds & Damian Kulash are going to collaborate on 8 songs for the upcoming Rethink Music conference in late April at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. The kicker, they will write and record the songs within one 8-hour stretch.
“Ben Folds, Damian Kulash (OK Go), Amanda Palmer (Dresden Dolls, solo), and author Neil Gaiman will write and record eight songs in eight hours (4:00 p.m. to midnight) at Berklee College of Music, Monday, April 25, and release them 10 hours later during Rethink Music, in Boston.”
“The historic collaboration will be broadcast live from the recording studio at rethink-music.com. The album will be released through Bandcamp.com; proceeds from the first week of downloads will benefit Berklee City Music, which provides free music education to underserved teens. “
This is going to be fucking cool. As a huge fan of 3 of these 4 artists, I can’t imagine a more unique and experimental collaboration. I’ll definitely be tuning in live and purchasing this album.
